Hi everyone!
I hope you all had a great time eating delicious food! I know I sure did! (And my doggies got some turkey, too!) It is nice to see you folks visiting the blog, even on a weekend! Last night I attempted to make the Indian pudding that we got to sample at Plimouth Plantation, but it was a terrible fiasco. I've decided that cooking just is not my strength! Oh well! Thankfully, my mom made enough pie for everyone to become sufficiently stuffed.
Enjoy our long weekend! See you Monday!

Finally it's over!
- The social studies test is finally over. Social studies give me the creeps. Good thing it isn't a monster. Next up, we started writing to our Santa Barbra pen-pals. If they're our pen-pals then why aren't they pens? Why aren't we pens? After that we finished our papers on that Old Ugly Explorer Christopher Columbus.
Thank you, Kevin and Andrew! I'm glad to see you enjoy Columbus so much. Don't forget that tomorrow we get dismissed at 11:30, not 12:00. We will have snack, but no lunch. Tonight's homework is to read for 30 minutes. Get an adult signature to prove you did it.
See you tomorrow!

[insert tittle here]
Today in wonderful school we learned a trick to improper fractions. For example the trick we did was , say I had 4 3/5 i would do 5*4 and got 20 and then add the numerator witch is 3 and so my total for an improper fraction would be 23/5. My denominator was 5 because the denominator stays the same no matter what! ∆ In Ms. Medler's reading group we played charades and i got Brittany spears. It was so funny. Ms.Medler was my back up dancer and she would copy everything I did. Autumn got it because it was hers. Also in Ms. Medlers reading group we made little skits for tomorrow to present but we can't talk or use props. In writing we did our Christopher Columbus letters and finished campaign papers but Andrew ( cheesecake) and me (Jordam the typo girl) finished ours and got to do the blog. ∆∆∆
Remember we have homework our homework is
1. ∆ STUDY FOR QUIZ TOMORROW∆
2. Remember to get math test signed TTFN (Ta ta for now)
Sincerely,
Typo Girl and Cheesecake

Science Fair
In my class we did a science fair. So did the other fifth grades. It all had to do with creativity, electricity, and of course science tools. I made a hotel with lights. The lights were from a closed circuit. A closed circuit is a battery, two wires, two pieces of tape, a test plate and a light bulb. You connect one wire to the battery on the negative side, then you do the same but with the positive side. Then you screw in the light bulb, connect the wires [each one on each side] then the light bulb lights up. You can also add things to it to make it look pretty or cool. You can get all that suplies at home depot, so get off the computer and try it. It will be more fun and educational. You can also teach your family how to do it to. Get to it!
Sincerely,
Destiny, one of Ms. Medler's students
(Hi, this is Ms. Medler. Thanks for that great report, Destiny! Just a reminder that this weekend's homework is 1. MCAS review paper, 2. Study Link 5.2, and STUDY for Tuesday's big social studies test!!)

I also can't wait to take my time and get a closer look at all of the detail you put into your final product. Thanks to all the adults who helped to carry the projects in on this windy day!

2. Book orders due Thursday
Stay warm! It's cold out! I am off to bundle up and take the dogs for a walk...Brrrr!

You did a fabulous job today! Jaylene, I really appreciate you giving your seat to me. That was very helpful. :) I had a blast on the trip today, and I hope you all did, too! Thank you to all of our parent chaperones. You helped to make the day run smoothly.
Now I am going to kick off my shoes, snuggle up with the doggies and get some rest! See you tomorrow!

Yeah Friday!
Riley our gecko shed her skin on Wednesday!!! It was awesome!!!!!! Some people took some of the skin home. Peewee did not shed yet this month. Today is sports day. A lot of people wore sport stuff.
Thanks, Jordan and Diana! That was wonderful. :)
This weekend your only homework is to work on your electricity project. I will give you an hour on Wednesday to work on your projects, but other than that, it is up to you to budget your time. Let me know if you have any questions over the weekend. I'll try to check the blog each day.
See you next week!

Webkins are not necessary for survival...
I love when my students are supposed to be researching items needed for surviving in the wilderness, and I find they are on a webkins page... Ah yes. Diligent workers, they are! :)
We had a fun "kick back and relax" kind of math day today. As a little break between units 3 and 4, I decided today would be a math games rotation day. Unit 4 is going to be division, and I'm pretty sure that the general feeling on division is a big, fat "BOO!" But don't worry-- it's a short unit!
Tonight's homework is:
1. Guided Reading: Hayes has a vocab quiz tomorrow. Medler: Read Ch. 7 in Hatchet. Survival items activity is due Wednesday.
2. "Yum Yum Lane" map skills paper
3. Field trip money and slips!!
Hasta maƱana!
