Well, it was ALMOST a sticker day! Yesterday was wonderful, and today was 90% wonderful. I think the probability of tomorrow being a sticker day is 92%. What do you all think?
Families, today we took our Unit 2 math test. I am looking forward to going over them to see how much everyone has learned! The class received their social studies quizzes back today and part of their homework is to show an adult family member and get it signed. If it is not turned in tomorrow, it is a homework fine!
Along the lines of tests, just a reminder that this Friday we will have our final vocabulary test for the book
Dear Mr. Henshaw, and on Tuesday, we will have the
Dear Mr. Henshaw final exam. We will be reviewing in small groups on Friday. Next Tuesday we will begin book clubs, which means that the 5th grade will be integrated and divided into smaller book groups. The teachers are, (along with me!) Ms. Hayes, Ms. Piz, Mrs. Moses, and Mrs. Herzlinger. Those of you who came to Back-to-School Night had the chance to meet Mrs. Herzlinger. She has been working with our class this week to get to know the kids.
Today we also started our first major writing assignment for the year. Everyone has been researching the presidential candidates and now the kids have been asked to select who they would choose for president and write a 5 paragraph essay defending their choice. You can help your children by sharing newspaper articles, magazine articles, and simply by asking questions. A little political conversation to get their minds ticking! Tonight is the 3rd Presidential Debate. It's a little late for 5th graders (9:00pm) but if they can watch even part of it, that would be fantastic!
Enjoy the sunshine, everyone!
:) Ms. Medler
